A performing arts educator since the late 1980s, John Carlisle has helped school districts to improve curriculum, boost attendance, and increase student engagement. An independent consultant since 2008, he now advises school arts programs and serves as an adjudicator for a variety of competitions including Winter Guard International, Bands of America, and Drum Corps International. John Carlisle has also developed an international reputation for expertise in student arts and, as such, as judged such overseas events as The Musical Arts Festival of Okayama, Japan and the Drum Corps Europe Championships in the Neatherlands.
Before establishing his consulting company, John Carlisle served as principal of the School for the Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati, Ohio, which welcomes students in grades four through 12. During his two-year tenure in this role, Mr. Carlisle strengthened academic performance while raising attendance and graduation rates. He also leveraged connections with teachers and the community to optimize scheduling and fundraising to benefit a variety of school programs and facilities. Currently working toward a doctor of education in organizational leadership, John Carlisle commands graduate-level training in leadership and more than a two decades of experience as a teacher of music.
